We "popped up" and had a ball!

Megs and I enjoyed hosting our third Brown Button Trading pop up shop last weekend.

Held in my courtyard and kitchen - it absolutely turns my house upside down! As we are currently enjoying the last of the gorgeous weather, our pop up shops for the rest of the year will have to be held at an alternative venue, so we don't have to risk it with the weather.

We are so lucky to have some fabulous friends who have supported our shop and pop up shops and it was great to catch up with them, as well as make new friends as they visited our little weekend only shop for the first time.

We bought in some bigger pieces for this pop up shop, gorgeous lamps and vases. Not sure if they will make it onto the website so if you see something in these pics you like and can't find them online get in contact with us for details.

We are always excited to have some creative people join us with their wares each pop up shop. Stacey's Find Found Forage goodies were a huge hit! In particular her colourful range of ballet flats.

It was a hard decision for many to just try and decide on one pair - so many fab colour combos!

The talented and incredibly creative Elizabeth, (yes she was responsible for THAT cake) has been up to great goodness again - and produced these beautiful prints and we were lucky to be host their debut! Don't worry, they will be available on line shortly.

Oh - and I had to of course mention Mr Bass. Mr Chuck Bass. Fresh from celebrating his 2nd birthday on the Friday, he was well behaved meeting and greeting friends, bow tie and all.

Although, as you can see, it took a bit of 'adjusting' when it came to the bow ties..... Ahhh chucky.

We have a number of pop up shops planned for Adelaide this year, but hoping to take it 'on the road' and visit some rural South Australian locations. If you have any ideas of where you think we should head please let us know!

Against my better judgement, I'm back....

It's been months. I had grand plans of making this blog super slick, aesthetically pleasing, professional - get my house in order before I started blogging again.... but I can't afford it, and its not really me.

I wanted this to be a new schmick operation..... yep, SO not me. So it didn't happen.

So. I'm back. Not sure how regularly - and I've had numerous chats with myself (yes really) - about not feeling super bad that I can't keep up with some of the fabulous bloggers out there - kudos to them. They are amazing and they have put everything on the line, and they are true professionals. So in awe. So I'm just going to do my thing, and not compare myself to others (YIKES!) Love it if you come by and see what Megs and I are doing in our little shop. I'll share with you what I've seen that I like. And even if no one comes by, well thats ok too.

Kimberlee x

A quick debrief in pics:

Still making the SFC (single fronted cottage) a home.... its taken a while but the inclusion of this cabinetry installed on Friday is making it feel super cozy. Although here I was worrying I had a problem with hoarding and buying books and mags, but clearly I still have shelves to fill!

Still working hard towards being a crazy cat lady - thankfully Chuck and his hilarious (read: dumb arse) antics make it super easy. Him in the washing basket? Normal Saturday behaviour. A box, a shoe box, a shopping bag, a washing basket = infinite joy to the fur child.... go figure??

The shop is still OPEN! And these days - FREE SHIPPING on everything... I know, crazy right?! - Full range of Marvis Toothpaste, including the fabulous mouthwash that has packaging to die for.  And we have a gorgeous  range of cotton blankets, cushions and wool runners - CHECK IT!
Oh, and we are clearing the decks, Meagan and I have some of our old time favourites on sale at less than cost, with FREE SHIPPING!!!! Honestly - it doesn't get any better than that....
Oh, and I'm still pinning like a demon, you know- inspirational quotes and all, like the one above. I know, world changing stuff.....

Get on board...... x

Do yourself a favour........ My favourite movie for 2013

I saw "About Time" on Friday night at a charity event. And no, it had nothing to do with the couple of bottles of Woodstock Grenache Rose that Pip and I drank while watching it that made me bawl like a baby through the majority of the film. IT. IS. FABULOUS. From the brilliant people that brought us 'Love Actually' and 'Notting Hill' - it is a movie for everyone. I want my friends to see it, I want my parents to see it. I'll even go and see it again, with a few more tissues packed this time (its a 'so happy it makes you cry' movie, not a sad movie - promise) - Genius. Brilliant soundtrack, fabulous scenery. I can see why my sister loved Cornwall so much. I'm pumped to see "The Butler" when it comes out October 31 here in Oz, but you want some feel good brilliance - its all about, "About Time" xxx

This is Rug-diculous!

"The Rug Dilema" continues..... Do I go Kilim (current crush), or do I go an over dyed traditional persian rug? The West Elm Kasbah rug is still fabulous, Aura Home have a great range as well.... so tricky. Decisions, decisions.

LOVING this range of rugs from Matt Blatt - Fabulous range and colours - only $495!! But alas, too small for my space.

Happy to say I found one and happy with it...

What are you reading?

Love to read. You? A couple of the books I've been reading of late.
Oh and also a sweet little book (its been around for a while but i've only just read) - The curious case of a dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon.

Do you have anything good to recommend you have read recently?

Squeak and Squirrel - happy days x

Say what you will about blogging, meeting people on line..... I have been truly blessed to be connected with some incredibly talented, clever people, and even more lucky to now call some of them dear friends.

Elizabeth and I shared mutual friends, but 'technically' met 'online' and on reminiscing I found photos of us as the same 21st all those many moons ago.....

E and little Miss Alice have become incredibly important parts of my life and their creativity and friendship means the world to me - both of them!

Megs and I with our little shop, Brown Button Trading were incredibly lucky to have E join with us at our first pop up shop. Her gorgeous pieces for little ones were a hit and there are many a well dressed baby getting about in Adelaide right now because of this!

Squeak and Squirrel, her brand and blog features the beautiful home and creative pieces E and her daughter create. It is therefore with incredible excitement that I let you know that not only has the new look blog launched today, but also a beautiful new shop featuring Elizabeth's incredible unique, one of a kind, hand stitched neckpieces and dream catchers which are nothing like you have ever seen before. Absolutely exquisite, a labour of love, every detail has been thought out. Even her words and descriptions will take your breath away.

I've got one waiting for me when I get back home, can't wait to wear with crisp white linen shirt, or a white tank in summer.

Bravo E, bravo. xx

No secret - I've had a serious girl crush on Briar, her style and her home for a while now. And her daughter Sunday? yep I cyber stalk this seriously cute child via instagram - poor thing! (don't worry Briar, no need to take out a restraining order.... )

Sunday Style recently put together an article on her home. Just beautiful. See more and learn more about these spaces over at Briar's blog, Sunday Collector.

Bring on Byron

I bought the House and Garden magazine before I left for the Philippines because of the front cover.... little did I realise I'd be in that very kitchen in a couple of months!

Hi all - sorry for the absence. Currently half way through a six week stint in Manila for work. Challenging? yes. Will it be worth it? definitely.

But there is nothing better than looking forward to a weekend away with your favourite girls to get you through busy times. We've booked a weekend in Byron Bay in September and I am so excited. I've never been, so that in itself adds to the suspense. But the fact we are booked to stay at the Atlantic? Christmas has come early!

Bring on Byron I say! x

Sad Cat Diary

As each day passes I realise (and accept) that I am becoming (or perhaps I already am) - a crazy cat lady.
If that is the price I pay for having, and being slightly (ok, alot) obsessed with Chuck Bass - my crazy british blue - then so be it. The 'sad cat diary' is fantastic. Beyond words. Brilliant. I think Chuck may have consulted on production and content......

Grand Design Oz Style

I was lucky enough to receive copies of the last couple of seasons of Grand Designs Australia from Roadshow. I had often caught the UK version on TV but was yet to see the Australian version as I don't have foxtel (if i did i would never leave the house.... ever.)

Ok, so I'm addicted. I love it. More than the UK version. Honestly? I've always favoured the decorating part of a house and no so fussed about what was involved in the structure, the build etc. But watching the Australian version of Grand Designs is changing that - never would have thought it possible!

It is such a huge journey for someone to take, building a house - and I like that Peter Maddison is so honest with what he thinks of the design, the way the build is being coordinated and the expectations of the people doing the build.

I've been blown away by the budgets people have, and then how much they exceed them! I've been humbled watching people attempting the build themselves against all the odds, with limited funds and patience.

It's soooo good. Like a good interiors magazine but on TV!

Checking in with Chuck Bass.....

I'm pleased to report that the fur muffin continues to grow at a rapid rate, especially in the tummy area..... unfortunately the intelligence and brain cells don't seem to be growing at the same rate. Seriously Chuck, that fire is hot..... durrrrrrrr. Gotta love him though x

Pinterest is the bomb.

Is it just me or are you LOVING the fact that pinterest now tells you whether or not you have pinned an image already. Pinterest even does it so politely.... "Pssssst, looks like you already pinned it on your 'blah blah board'.... Cos it gets a little embarrassing, when you realise you have pinned the same image five times. I'd like to think it is because I love it so much and i'm totally inspired by it, not because I've had one too many wines.....bravo Pinterest and thanks!  x

image - one i've gone to pin multiple times.... thanks pinterest! image source
